How the Czech electronic vignette fits D-routes and selected first-class roads, and why vehicle category matters.
What you are buying
The Czech system sells time-based electronic vignettes for light vehicles. Your plate is recorded; enforcement is automatic on marked sections.
Network surprises
Not every scenic road needs a vignette — but many D motorways and some first-class roads do. The safe habit: open the SFDI / eDalnice map, plot your route, and colour-match which segments are tolled before you leave home Wi‑Fi.
Vehicle categories
Passenger cars are straightforward; CNG, LPG, or eco-labelled cars can sit in discounted categories if your registration proves eligibility. Picking “car” when you are entitled to a special rate leaves money on the table; picking a special rate without proof creates risk at control.
Start date and duration
You choose when validity begins and how long it runs. If you arrive late at night, decide whether the calendar day should still start “today” or tomorrow — mismatches here are a common source of accidental gaps.
With trailers
Combinations with trailers can change what you must buy. If you tow, read the tractor + trailer rules on the official help pages — a valid car vignette alone is not always enough.
